Andrea S. Temkin
Resources and Resiliency Coordinator for the Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership, Alameda County Office of Education, Hayward, CA
Andrea S. Temkin has worked with teaching artists of all disciplines working in a variety of settings---public schools, prisons, community arts schools, senior centers, preschools---for over 30 years. Ms. Temkin’s arts nonprofit experiences range from coordinating a Muralists-in-the-Public-Schools project for a small community arts organization to serving as a member of a large professional staff of a major U.S. symphony. She served as the executive director for the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View, CA, for eight years and established an independent consulting practice in 2002. She currently serves as the resources and resiliency coordinator for the Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership, a project of the Alameda County Office of Education. The Alliance is a collaborative network of the County Office of Education, the Alameda County Arts Commission, eighteen Alameda County school districts, their administrators, teachers and arts specialists, community arts partners, representatives from higher education, social justice organizations, the state PTA, Alameda County Libraries and parents. Alliance partners work together to create systemic change and develop public understanding about the essential role of arts learning in a high quality education for every child, in every school, every day.
